Saturated Fat: Friend or Foe

I hear from clients almost on a daily basis that they need to cut out their fat intake in order to lose weight and get healthy. I continually have to educate them as to the role of fats in the diet and particularly how saturated fat is not the enemy when it comes to heart health. This is definitely not a release to go hog-wild and eat all the fat you can. You need to know how much and what types of fats work the best for your body.

There’s a great posting on Dr. Mercola’s website…

When you eat fats as part of your meal, they slow down absorption so that you can go longer without feeling hungry. In addition, they act as carriers for important fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K. Dietary fats are also needed for the conversion of carotene to vitamin A, for mineral absorption, and for a host of other biological processes.
