Why Do We Need More Omega-3 Fatty Acids?

Most of us have heard of the importance of getting Omega-3 fatty acids in our diet. They’re the good kind of fats that can help prevent or improve many conditions, such as heart disease, strokes, autoimmune disorders, Crohn’s disease, mild hypertension, colon cancer, and rheumatoid arthritis.
I believe most of us need to increase our intake of foods that have a good quantity of Omega-3’s, or at least supplement with a high quality Omega-3 oil to maintain optimal health.
What many don’t know is that a deficiency of Omega-3’s can have an impact on our brain function and our learning abilities as well. I see this a lot with kids nowadays. Their diets are full of processed foods, bad fats, and many Omega-6 fats, which have a different effect on the body and brain. When we add some good quality fats to their diet, their behavioral issues and attention improve tremendously.
I found this clip on YouTube that demonstrates how the learning curve can be affected by having a deficiency in Omega-3 fats. Hopefully, you don’t see yourself as rat number two.
