Cellulite Confusion
We just recently expanded and now offer our services to La Plata Fitness Club. The health club is women’s only. Women, as with men, have their unique challenges that they strive to address. One of the most common questions I get asked by women is,
How can I get rid of my cellulite?
The question implies a special exercise or one step that will rid the body of this particular substance called cellulite. My answer usually surprises people. The way I get rid of cellulite is the same way I have a person lose weight and fat. Cellulite is more of a label than a true condition. You can Google cellulite a get a ton of cellulite removing creams and snakeoils, but the real problem is localized deposits of adipose tissue (fat). The answer lies in losing the fat from a specific area. This does not mean doing hundred of reps of a resistance exercises that target the back of your thighs, because you can’t spot reduce either. You lose fat from all over at the same time and when you target a specific area with an exercise you develop the muscle underneath the fat. Sometimes this can actually make the area look bigger!
The real solution to this is not to look at the fat deposits at all, because they are just the symptom. The solution comes to finding the cause of the problem and addressing it. The causes can come from different areas or as a combination of these areas. You should examine the type of exercise you are doing, what you are feeding the body, whether your hormones are balanced, your level of recovery, and the proper functioning of your detoxication system. Any one of these can be the culprit for not getting results.
