Exercise and Your Kid’s Brain

Instead of having your kids toil away at homework while munching on potato chips, looks like they might get smarter by closing the books and heading outside for some exercise instead. More and more research is linking academic performance to physical activity.
That’s a bit ironic, since many schools have reduced or even eliminated gym classes and recess. One of the reasons often given for this elimination is because the U.S. is falling behind the rest of the world in terms of academics, there’s just not time to get everything in and do this frivolous activity. Maybe the rest of the world has time to actually use their bodies and we are falling behind because there’s no way to eliminate the influence a health and fit body (the housing for the brain and intellect) has on the ability of the mind to gather and utilize information.
MSNBC has an interesting story on this subject.
